Adult Education GED Program
Advance to College with AHS!
GED stands for General Equivalence Development. The Adult Basic Education classes and the GED Examination have been redone to be harder than it was in the last few decades. The GED didn't have much weight to it, and only taught up to the 10th grade level. Now it is exactly equivalent to High School.

The new GED exam is geared towards college and is more widely accepted by colleges and employers because the exam has become more challenging. Many GED schools, private tutors and teachers still use mostly the old format and very little of the new format. Aslan High School uses only the new format. This is why there is a text book for each subject, lots of practice and 2 post tests at the end to be sure you're completely ready for the actual GED Examination. It has been stated by the U.S. Department of Education that "most people who graduate via the Adult Basic Education system for the GED are more learned and better prepared for college or technical schools than most high school graduating seniors". GED's are no longer given out, instead, a "High School Diploma" from the Department of Education are awarded.
There are many valid reasons for getting a GED. In order to work and have a higher amount of pay, one needs their High School Diploma. To attend college or join the military, a High School Diploma is mandatory. We are here to help you pass that Exam and get on with your future! Some people had to drop out of high school to get jobs and help their families, while other people, such as teenagers, had to drop out due to mental or physical conditions. Others yet have acute ADD and ADHD or are slow learners....We can help all of you.
How the GED Instruction Sessions Work
As teachers in the public and college school systems for over two decades, We have taught thousands of students. We have seen, firsthand, that some students do not always fit in well with traditional schooling systems, and, unfortunately, find it difficult to complete the journey to receive that all-important diploma. Aslan High School is a wonderful program that can help many to achieve their educational goals. One of the best aspects of this program is the personalized attention one receives. It's like having your own personal education coach encouraging, cajoling and inspiring you to greater heights!
We teach the entire curriculum with private, one on one instruction. In this way, there is less time wasted, and more focus towards your studies since you are the only student.
We try to work around your schedule and time unlike GED classes and traditional High Schools. We do private, one on one instruction in one of our many
campuses or Live Online Education/Skype. We can prepare you for the GED examination usually within 5 to 7 months, step by step. Instead of trying to study on your own, learn by yourself, or take classes at an institution (which do not fit your working and family schedule) we can come to you and guide you to make the highest passing scores on all 5 GED subject tests. Unlike GED schools, we offer the most up to date curriculum, teach how to write an APA research paper which all colleges use, so you'll be ahead of the game and help you to succeed. Besides text books, movies, powerpoints and other materials are also used in our curriculum.
The first step is an entire GED pre-test to find your strengths and weakness. At this point, we either enroll you in a Pre-GED Program or straight to the GED Program depending upon your test scores. The second step is instruction, lessons, chapter tests, & discussions in the classical GED exam subjects which include: Language Arts Reading, Language Arts Writing (including Essay), Science, Social Studies and Mathematics. Most students attend three days per week for a total of eight hours. Each subject is taught in 1.5 hour increments every week, except math which is 2 hour increments. The first day of every week is three hours which includes Language Arts Reading and Social Studies. The second day is three hours which includes Language Arts Writing and Science. The third day is two hours of math. The days and hours can be arranged to help fit your busy daily and work schedule too.
Students may also take advantage of our College Prep Classes if they desire. We offer
Driver Education, AP World Religion, Medical Assisting, EMT, Zoology, Eastern Philosophy, Health, Wellness and Herbology, and Criminal Justice courses. This will give a student a taste of college or career school classes for an extra nominal fee.
The third step is for 2 full length post tests before you take the actual GED exam. We teach 8 hours per week (min.) and this can be divided up into different days and times of day. We will always go at your own pace - slow or quickly. If you take the exam and failed just one or a few subjects, you don't have to retake the entire GED exam. We just go over the subject(s) you missed on the exam, so that you may retake it within 2 weeks.
We look forward to helping you and serving your needs. We do not discriminate against anyone, not gender, religion, sexual orientation, race, age, past, political views or anything else you can think of! We have the enthusiasm, materials, education, passion and true desire to serve and educate.
